Top Mistakes When Buying Scrubs Online (and How to Avoid Them)

Some of the biggest challenges of buying medical scrubs online include being able to judge fit and comfort properly, choosing between so many lines, styles, and specialities, and risking poor quality without seeing the uniforms up-close. However, with careful research and shopping around, and by measuring yourself accurately, it’s easy to avoid these headaches. When I first started in healthcare, finding the right fitting scrubs that were comfortable and professional honestly wasn’t easy. After all, for long shifts, we all need uniforms that are well-made, durable, and flexible while looking great. Thankfully, it’s easier than ever to buy the right scrubs online (when you know what to look for). In this guide, we’ll take a look at why buying online scrubs can be tricky, some common mistakes everyone makes shopping around, and some tried-and-tested ways to narrow down the most comfortable, flexible, and best-looking fits for your basket. Why Buying Scrubs Online Can Be Tricky When shopping for nursing scrubs online, you don’t get to see the uniforms in person, which can make it hard to judge fit, comfort, and size variations. There’s also an increasing variety in choice when it comes to styles, colours, and specialities, and if you’re shopping with a new brand or store, you’re risking trust in quality and customer care. If you’re new to online uniform shopping, the following concerns likely sound familiar: It’s not easy to judge scrubs on fit and comfort. Buying online means you risk seeing the true quality of scrubs after you pay. You can’t try uniforms on before you buy, and if they don’t fit or otherwise disappoint you, you have the hassle of asking for a refund. Scrubs brands size uniforms differently. For example, take two of our main scrubs manufacturing partners, Cherokee and Dickies. The sizing on Cherokee scrubs tops differs from how Dickies sizes up, and there may even be differences between specific lines. Which brand do you trust to get your fit right? There’s tons of choice. The sheer variety of scrubs available to buy online is a good thing on the surface, but it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by so many different colours, styles, fits, and speciality options (such as moisture-wicking, anti-wrinkle technology, and extra pockets). There are always risks with new stores. Unless you know a brand or store well, your first purchase from an online scrubs merchant is always a risky one. How can you be sure you’re guaranteed a great-quality uniform? What about customer care standards? Rightfully, you’re going to be careful with your money. By taking a blind leap of faith when choosing a brand to buy from, you’re going against the grain:“Twilio’s 2024 Consumer Preferences Report reveals a significant trust issue among Australian consumers, with 68% stating they would not purchase from a brand they do not trust. The report, based on a global survey of 3,900 consumers, including 300 Australians, highlights the importance of trust in brand-consumer relationships.” Australian Marketing Institute Rest assured, one of the main reasons we set up Medshop is to help make shopping for genuinely high-quality scrubs online easier for healthcare professionals - we’ve all been in your shoes. However, it’s still perfectly understandable to have reservations about challenges like those above. Common Mistakes When Buying Scrubs Online It’s easy to make online shopping mistakes like ignoring brand profile and quality assurance, overlooking customer care and fit guidance, and simply purchasing the first scrubs that fit your budget. Many people also disregard profession-specific scrubs styles and charge into deals without thinking about value. On the flip side to my points above, rushing into buying the first scrubs you see online without thinking about value and risk is easily done. Let’s explore some common traps you don’t have to fall into. Ignoring Brand Reputation and Quality Assurance Grabbing cheap scrubs for the sake of it (or the first set you find online) is never likely to produce great results. If you don’t research the brand’s buyer reviews and online reputation before you buy, you could end up with a cheaply-made uniform that’s poorly-fitting or shrinks and wrinkles up even with care. Overlooking Customer Experience and Support Shopping online at a store without customer support channels (such as live chat or email) is never wise. Without that accountability, you could be stuck with poor-quality scrubs and no way to get refunded. Neglecting Sizing and Fit Guidance It’s easy to assume that an ‘S’ or an ‘L’ on a scrubs sizing chart is exactly the same as the ‘S’ or ‘L’ you buy in tops or shirts for everyday wear. Every scrub manufacturer sizes up differently, and if you don’t measure yourself adequately before buying, you risk uncomfortable, unsuitable, and tight or baggy uniforms. Not Considering Style, Colour, and Design Options For the most part, you don’t have to choose the same old colours and styles in scrubs unless your employer mandates it. If there are no set rules, you might be restricting yourself on colour, fit style, and specific design choices if you stick to generic looks. Missing Specialty and Profession-Specific Scrubs There’s a world of specialised scrubs out there for different roles, such as vet scrubs that are tear and scratch-resistant, paediatrician scrubs with bright colours and memorable styles, and surgical uniforms manufactured from sterile materials. If you stick to generic looks and styles, you might miss out on options that make work easier for you. Overlooking Shopping Tips and Discounts It’s always good to shop around, but many people still end up paying full price on quality-label scrubs when they don’t have to. They avoid sales pages and marketing emails, for example, and neglect to compare shipping rates and RRPs at different retailers. Tips to Avoid Mistakes When Buying Scrubs Online To avoid making mistakes when buying scrubs online, always research the brands you buy from, measure yourself accurately, check size charts with care, and be sure to compare styles, colours, and fabrics. Here’s some more detail: Know your brands. Take time to research scrub manufacturers - what do other buyers say about them? Are they well-regarded in the industry? Do they have a legitimate online presence? Know your measurements. Carefully measure your chest/bust, waist, hips, leg inseam, and where possible, shoulder width and arm length. With accurate data, you’ll find it easier to choose well-fitting scrubs without seeing them in person, and regardless of the brand. Check size charts carefully. Don’t rely on ‘S’, ‘M’, ‘L’, and other letter codes. Look at the different measurements covered by each size, and compare charts with different brands. It might even be worth buying two different sizes initially if you’re unsure, or fall between sizes. Look for quality fabrics. Cotton is comfortable, but polyester is durable. Check out blends of either material and prioritise hard-wearing flexibility and easy-care options. Remember, the true value of high-quality scrubs isn’t in the initial price tag, but in how well they serve you in the months ahead. Try different styles and colours. Again, unless your employer dictates it, you don’t have to stick to one colour and a generic style. Show off some personality with bright or deep colours, choose tailored fits for more flattering looks, or opt for scrubs you can customise and embroider yourself. Prioritise functionality. Look for scrub pants with elasticated waists for extra comfort, tops with slits for extra mobility, and, of course, some of the best scrubs for doctors have pockets for storing pagers and notes. Look at care policies. Always be sure to check out customer care standards at online stores you buy from, and carefully read returns and refunds policies. Legitimate retailers will always protect your rights. Final Thoughts Buying scrubs online is convenient and easy, but you’re shopping in the dark unless you know your brand, your measurements, and what to look for. Always take time to research scrubs retailers and read what other shoppers have to say. And, always take advantage of sales and deals available at retailers before paying full price for tops and pants. For example, Medshop has a permanent ‘scrubs on sale’ page for you to browse for ongoing offers on the best-quality scrubs on the market. How to Get the Right Size Scrubs Online: Ultimate Guide

Wearing the right size in scrubs ensures you’re comfortable, flexible, and always appearing professional at work, no matter your healthcare role. What’s more, choosing the right scrubs gives you and your patients extra confidence, and the better the fit, the safer the uniform (and the more efficient you’ll be while moving around). Take it from me, as someone with years of experience in clinics and on wards - consulting a scrubs sizing guide is a must before you fill up your wardrobe! In this guide, we’ll explore why proper fit and comfort for scrubs are so important, how to measure yourself, how to read sizing charts, and some tips and tricks to keep in mind while shopping online. Why Proper Fit and Comfort Matter for Scrubs Proper fitting, comfortable scrubs allow you to move freely, maintain hygiene, reduce rubbing and irritation, and keep looking professional even during long hours on shift. Having done my fair share of 10-12-hour shifts over the years, I can personally vouch for comfortable, properly fitting scrubs being a must-buy. If you’re bending, stretching, and moving quickly from area to area, you need a uniform that won’t constrain you or flap loosely. It’s one of the first points to consider when you learn how to wear scrubs. Sizing up isn’t always a good idea, either. Loose clothing or larger fits are liable to slow you down, get caught, or come into contact with public surfaces. For optimum hygiene and efficiency, you need scrubs that fit close, but don’t rub or irritate. It’s why sizing too small should also be avoided. With fabrics rubbing against your skin for hours at a time, you’ll get uncomfortable and lose focus on your work. Then, there’s professionalism - scrubs that are too tight or too loose give an impression that you haven’t taken the time or care into choosing your uniform. That, in turn, can make you look incapable or incompetent, meaning patients feel less confident in your care. The way you appear to patients is very important, with studies showing that patients view the right uniforms as highly positive and trustworthy: “A healthcare uniform permits instant identification of the wearer’s status and is a symbol of training and competency. As seen in several studies, patients associated positive attributes with certain uniforms, such as competence, trustworthiness or friendliness (Clarke et al, 2019; Bauer et al, 2020).” Cooper, K. et al. How to Measure for Scrubs Before Buying Online Before buying healthcare and nursing scrubs online, measure your chest/bust, waist, hips, inseam/leg length, arm length, and shoulder width. Different brands’ sizing charts vary, so it is vital to get your own measurements correct before you buy. Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to measure for scrubs, based on my own experience: If you’re measuring by yourself, make sure you do so in front of a mirror. I personally prefer asking for help if possible, so I have a second party to check. Start by measuring your bust or chest. Take your tape measure and wrap beneath your arms, around your chest’s widest point. Next, find your waist. I recommend measuring midway between the bottom of your ribs and the top of your hips for the most accurate figure. Now, measure your hips at the widest point, with your feet together for accuracy. To measure your inseam or leg length, you’ll need the tape to reach from the inseam of your crotch to just below your ankle (by an inch). Next, if you wish, take arm and shoulder measurements. This isn’t vital, but the more measurements you have, the more accurate your fit will be. Start with the tape at one shoulder’s edge, measuring over to the other, straight across. Now, from your shoulder’s outer edge, measure down along the outside of your arm, up to the wrist. Scrub Size Charts: How to Read Them Correctly A scrubs sizing guide will inform you of the sleeve size, pant size, and overall length. However, other stats such as bust, hips, and waist are important to look for, as are the fabric type and breathability features. Brands such as Cherokee and Dickies have different size charts, and they can even vary depending on the look and line. Here’s what to look for and how to read charts regardless of your brand and line: Bust, hips, and waist measurements: Brands like Cherokee generally break their scrub sizes down into these key figures, so be sure to have at least these areas measured for the most comfortable fit. Sleeve, pant, and overall length: Sleeves and pants can be adjusted (e.g., with hems) if they are too long, so avoid going too short. If you have a small torso, you may wish to opt for petite or S to XXS sizes. Types of ‘fit’: Occasionally, scrubs will be available in slim fit (meaning they’re sleek and fit your form) or relaxed fit (which is looser and more comfortable). Fabric types: Cotton and polyester blends tend to be the most common fabrics used in scrubs manufacturing. Cotton is comfortable and easy to care for, but polyester is more durable and resistant to wrinkling. Breathability: Not all scrubs are designed to be completely breathable, so prioritise those that claim they are moisture-wicking to help keep you dry and cool on-shift. Gender and Fit Variations in Scrubs Although all bodies are different, some scrubs are designed as unisex (which tend to be looser), women’s (which are usually tailored for hips and waist), and men’s (which account for broader shoulders. Unisex scrubs are ideal for all, but many choose men’s or women’s so they specifically fit their form. Men’s scrubs tend to be longer than most, and women’s scrub pants typically account for wider hips. Nurses frequently choose gendered options for the most flattering scrubs fits. As we all have different body shapes, it’s also wise to look for ‘petite’, ‘tall’, or ‘plus-size’ options. Don’t feel bad if you don’t fit a brand’s specific category! Personally, I try to purchase a handful of options to compare and make sure I have the most comfortable and flexible fit. Tips for Buying Scrubs Online Before buying scrubs, always read descriptions carefully, compare your measurements with different charts, and don’t be afraid to go one size up or down if your body falls between options. Read product descriptions carefully To avoid disappointment and mis-sizing, always make sure you know what you’re buying. Check the measurements listed for the size you’re buying, body types the scrubs are recommended for, and care tips offered by the manufacturer. Compare measurements with size charts Don’t just choose an S, M, or XL based on your everyday outfits. Check the measurements you’ve taken against the manufacturer’s size charts, and compare with different brands. Consider one size up/down if between sizes You may not fit specific sizes in some scrubs charts, so carefully consider whether to size up or down depending on your fit and flexibility preferences. Again, it’s sometimes worth buying two options if you’re unsure. Check fabric stretch and material The stretchier and more durable the fabric of your scrubs, the more forgiving it will be from shift to shift. Don’t simply choose the cheapest materials and blends - think about long-term support and value. Common Scrub Fit Problems and How to Avoid Them Many people find their scrubs are too tight in the chest, too loose or long in pants, or that sleeves and legs start bunching up. Unfortunately, you may even experience shrinkage after washing if you don’t care for your uniforms correctly. Here are some common scrubs concerns and how to avoid them: Scrubs too tight in the shoulders or chest: This is often a sign that you need to measure more carefully or size up based on your brand’s sizing chart. Consider returning your top, re-measuring, and re-sizing. Pants too loose or too long: Again, this can happen when you measure incorrectly or size up too much. However, when scrubs are too large or long, you can take them in and up by sewing. Sleeves or pant legs bunching: Bunching and tangling can occur when you mix your washing loads. Try to wash your scrubs in separate bags or loads, and if at all possible, turn them inside out to protect the fabric. Shrinkage after washing: Many scrub materials shrink in the wash, and it’s largely due to using too high a temperature. Consider washing cottons in cold water and being as gentle as possible. Air-dry your fabrics and fold and store carefully. Final Thoughts Whether you’re just getting started in healthcare or need a new uniform, it’s always worthwhile consulting a scrubs sizing guide to make sure you get a comfortable, flexible, professional fit. How to Manage Incontinence Discreetly: Expert Tips & Daily Strategies

Incontinence affects millions of Australians every day, with many finding daily life, work, and social events difficult to manage as a result. It is a condition that can, understandably, cause physical and emotional distress. However, there are ways to discreetly manage and adapt to the condition, such as with the right continence products, lifestyle changes, and long-term professional support. In this guide, we’ll explore incontinence’s impact on everyday Australians, and how you can manage the condition’s challenges discreetly from day to day (with low impact on your routine). Understanding Incontinence and Its Impact Incontinence refers to the involuntary loss of control in your bowels and/or bladder. The two main types are urinary incontinence (bladder) and faecal incontinence (bowels). Its severity and causes can vary, and it can affect people of all ages. One in four Australians experiences incontinence, many of whom are independent adults: “Although there is a higher rate of incontinence among people who live in residential aged care facilities, 9 out of 10 people who experience incontinence live in the community. (...) The average age of people experiencing incontinence in Australia is 51 years.” Continence Health Australia Incontinence is a condition which, while common, can significantly affect your daily life, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and self-esteem. Effects may include: A need for physical support from others (reduction in independence) Stress and anxiety Embarrassment, both privately and in social situations Low mood and depression Reluctance to socialise and ask for help With careful lifestyle adjustments, however, it is perfectly possible to manage incontinence discreetly, to regain confidence, and to live a full and happy life. Daily Habits and Lifestyle Tips to Manage Incontinence Typical habit and lifestyle changes to consider when managing incontinence include carefully timing bathroom visits, managing diet and hydration, and choosing the right clothing. In many cases, trying pelvic floor exercises, adjusting skin care and hygiene regimes, and making adjustments to your home can also help you manage incontinence. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use the following advice in place of a professional medical consultation. These tips, and all that follow, are for informative purposes only, and should not be considered direct treatment for incontinence. Always consult a medical professional if you are worried about developing bladder or bowel problems. Timed Bathroom Visits If you experience urinary incontinence, consider keeping a diary of when you visit the bathroom and look for patterns in how long you wait. If there’s clear timing between visits, try to extend your waiting time in small increments, up to a few hours between trips. Keeping a diary can also help medical professionals understand how to help you train your bladder. Diet and Hydration Drinking plenty of water, spread evenly throughout the day, can help to support healthy bladder and bowel control. Do also consider eating five servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit per day, eating fibre, and managing your carbohydrate intake. Alcohol, coffee, and fizzy pop, meanwhile, can irritate your bladder. Clothing Choices Try to wear discreet, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing, particularly if you need to wear continence products. Choose darker colours where possible, and wear items that are easy to remove, but can still keep underwear and continence products in place. Pelvic Floor Exercises Our pelvic floor muscles help to control urination. Therefore, it’s important to try pelvic floor exercises, or kegels, several times a day, so your muscles can strengthen to close your urethra more effectively. Your doctor or nurse can help you learn more. Skin Care and Hygiene Incontinence can lead to damp, cracked skin, which may result in infection. It’s important to change products regularly, to keep clean and dry, and to use non-scented products and creams to protect your skin. Home and Environmental Adjustments Consider creating a safe bathroom environment, such as making the toilet easy to access, and keeping emergency products close to hand. Investing in portable urinals or commodes may also be worthwhile. Do also ensure your access to the bathroom is always well-lit in case of nighttime visits. How to Manage Incontinence Outside the Home Keeping confident and discreet in public can include planning bathroom trips, carrying emergency supplies, wearing adequate clothing, and investing in portable products. Many of our customers, and people I’ve worked with over the years, recommend the following incontinence management tips when leaving home for work, travel, or otherwise: Plan Regular Bathroom Visits: Try following a diary, as mentioned above, or at least ensure you have access to a toilet regularly during travel Carry Discreet Emergency Supplies: Take gentle bathroom wipes, continence products such as disposable pads & pull-up pants, creams, and handwash for emergencies Wear Travel-Friendly Clothing: Opt for dark, loose items that are comfortable but easy to remove in an emergency Use Portable Continence Products: Consider investing in portable urinals, disposable bags, and other products you can use in private spaces at short notice How to Use Continence Products Effectively While you can find a wide variety of supportive and comfortable continence products here at Medshop, it’s also important to select the right product, apply them correctly, change regularly, dispose properly, and protect your skin. Select the Right Product Carefully search for and purchase continence aids that suit your needs and body type. For example, some pads and underwear are more absorbent than others, and come in a range of sizes. You may also need to consider bed pads or urine bags. Apply Products Correctly Always follow the instructions recommended by the product manufacturer. Improperly using or wearing aids will lead to discomfort and may even cause pain or leakage. Each continence product varies in terms of correct usage, so always follow the guidelines. Change Products Regularly Changing your product after each use or at the end of each recommended period is good hygienic practice. Wearing products for too long can lead to further discomfort, risk of infection, and embarrassing odours. Never be afraid to ask for help. Store and Dispose Properly Similarly to changing products, it’s important to hygienically dispose of items that you can discard after use. Use a closed, hygienic waste bin or similar, or tie up in refuse bags for sanitary collection. It’s important to store unused products in dry environments, too, where they won’t get spoiled. Protect Skin From Irritation Always clean and dry your skin after each product use. Consider using gentle, perfume-free creams and ointments to ensure your skin is free from irritation, and to prevent cracking and infection. When to Seek Professional Support and Guidance You must seek medical care if you experience frequent leaks, sudden or unusual pain or discomfort, sudden changes in your body, bladder or pelvic problems, or, if you notice a loved one or someone in your care experiencing cognitive difficulties. I advise you see a doctor, nurse, or other specialist if you: Experience leakage frequently, whether or not you’re wearing continence products Notice blood in your urine or stool Suffer painful episodes relating to passing water or stool, or chronic pain in your bladder, bowels, or stomach Notice any changes in your daily symptoms, such as sudden onset of incontinence, change in pain thresholds, or increase in frequency when you need to visit the toilet Have any concerns regarding your bladder or pelvic region, from discomfort and pain to continuing issues after you’ve tried kegel/pelvic floor exercises Look after someone, such as a family member or spouse, and notice cognitive changes, alterations to their behaviour, or signs of incontinence that they may be embarrassed to discuss Ultimately, if anything in your daily routine (or that of someone you’re caring for) changes, always arrange to see a medical professional as soon as you can. Final Thoughts Incontinence affects millions of us, and understandably, that may not be an immediate comfort if you are living with the condition. As a professional, I have helped many people adapt to better bladder and bowel management over the years, and each case is slightly different. It’s why you should always take careful, personalised steps to adapting your lifestyle and using products that help you feel more comfortable and start to build up your public confidence. I encourage you to speak to a medical professional as soon as possible if you are worried, and to consult Medshop’s broad range of support products, such as disposable pads and discreet incontinence underwear, if you need to. Why Choose Cherokee Scrub Uniforms Over Generic Scrubs

Cherokee scrubs are among the most popular, stylish, and durable healthcare uniforms on the global market. They’re world leaders thanks to their outfits’ superior comfort, hard-wearing materials, and broad range of styles and fits. In fact, the brand remains the most popular choice with our scrubs-buying customers. In this guide, we explore further why Cherokee scrubs are so popular, how they perform compared to generic uniforms, and how to care for them for years of use ahead. What Makes Cherokee Scrubs Different from Generic Scrubs Cherokee has earned its position as a leader in scrubs manufacturing thanks to focusing on real-world use cases, lightweight and durable fabrics, lines for different people and purposes, and constant improvement. Since I’ve worked in healthcare, Cherokee has remained a scrubs provider with a sterling reputation for innovation and real-world application. It’s been the industry leader for decades, having first been established in 1973, and with products widely available in more than 100 territories. Cherokee scrubs are well-loved because they’re designed with thoughtful innovations and lightweight but durable material. They’re comfortable, customisable, and protective across long shifts, and unlike generic brands, they’re available in a broad range of sizes, styles, and for highly specific demands. When you buy Cherokee scrubs, you buy a flexible and supportive nursing uniform that will endure shift after shift, provided you properly care for it. Quality and Performance Features of Cherokee Scrubs Industry professionals who wear Cherokee scrubs do so for their market-leading comfort and fit, exceptional breathability, intensive durability, long-lasting colour, and profession-specific lines. Here’s a further breakdown of the quality and performance features you’ll always expect from Cherokee: Superb quality, durable fabrics and materials, designed for careful, long-term use Fantastic range of profession-specific scrubs (i.e., designed for nurses, doctors, vets, and more) Advanced anti-wicking and breathability Effortless ease in cleaning and care (including excellent colour retention and fade resistance) Protection against bodily fluids and contamination (through antimicrobial manufacturing) Features beneficial for real-world usage (e.g., badge loops, super-stretchy pant waistbands, reinforced fabrics) The Material Science Behind Cherokee Scrubs Cherokee develops scrubs built on a careful fibre and blend selection, a focus on robust construction density, and high-quality finishing and colour systems. Fibre & Blend Selection Cherokee typically bases its scrubs lines on a firm base of cotton and polyester to provide the highest durability, the softest breathability, and the most resistance against creasing. Cotton provides the comfort, while polyester offers durability. However, Cherokee scrubs also use blends including spandex and nylon, the former for ease of movement, and the latter for moisture-wicking and professional style. Generic scrubs, meanwhile, may only use one material, or the cheapest available. Construction Density Cherokee scrubs, such as its popular Infinity lines, use stretch poplin alongside knit panelling for extra breathability and comfort. The brand specifically uses a ‘mixed-media’ approach to appeal to real-world demands. Generic scrub designs may only be designed for simple comfort and short-term wear. Cherokee uniforms are specifically designed and tested with healthcare workers’ needs in mind (and many happy Medshop customers can attest to this). Finishing & Colour Systems Cherokee’s material finishing systems include its landmark Certainty® antimicrobial and bacteria-resistant treatment. While not available in all lines, you’ll find it helps Cherokee Workwear Revolution Tech scrubs work harder to prevent staining. Systems such as PROTX2®, too, help to reduce bad odors that build up over time, while its COOLMAX® Technology helps to regulate body temperature. You can also rely on Cherokee scrubs using these unique finishes to withstand wash after wash, locking colours, and retaining functionality. Antimicrobial protection has never been more important post-COVID, and research shows that intentionally treated scrubs are highly effective in reducing pathogen spread: “Introducing (scrubs treated with zinc pyrithione plus hydrophilic fluorocarbon resin) in the healthcare setting may reduce the transmission of pathogens from the clothing of healthcare workers to patients and the environment, and reduce HAI rates.” Westlake, C. et al. Cherokee vs Generic Scrubs: Complete Comparison Choosing a Cherokee uniform typically means investing in high-quality, colourfast scrubs that retain their fit and prove to be great value per wear. Cherokee’s scrubs also arrive in a wide colour palette with a variety of industry-researched features, meaning they perform strongly against cheaper generic lines. Here’s a quick head-to-head comparison between Cherokee and generic scrubs: Cherokee Scrubs Generic Alternatives Fabric Quality and Construction Use a variety of intentional blending techniques (typically cotton/poly base) to balance comfort, durability, and ease of movement Likely to use simpler blends for cheaper retail; unlikely to stretch and offer more than basic comfort and protection long-term Colour Retention (After at Least 10 Wash Cycles) Typical lines such as Workwear Revolution Tech keep their colour and finishing enhancements after many washes (provided you care for them properly) Results vary, but generic scrubs rarely use fade resistance or advanced finishing, and colourfastness is never guaranteed Fit, Stretch, and Shape Recovery Uses proprietary technology and innovative blending (i.e., with spandex) to ensure scrubs fit broad range of body types and withstand intensive use Typically one-type-fits-all with limited fit variety; you sacrifice support for low cost upfront Cost-Per-Wear vs Purchase Price Higher cost upfront but designed to weather even years of use with care Generally much cheaper but will likely wear and fade in the short term (i.e., after 40+ washes) Range of Colours and Styles Generally more than 20 colours per line Typically generic colour palettes and styles Warranty and Return Flexibility Vary depending on the retailer Vary depending on the retailer, but frequently limited Cherokee Product Range and Collections According to Medshop customers, Cherokee’s most popular scrub lines and products include their Infinity Performance, Revolution Tech, and Form by Cherokee collections. Infinity Cherokee Infinity scrubs make up the brand’s landmark high-quality, tailored uniforms collection. These outfits boast reinforced stitching, broad colour palettes, and generous pocket space (not always expected with generic scrubs). Workwear Revolution Workwear Revolution scrubs arrive with superb moisture-wicking qualities and antimicrobial finishing, making them great choices in all patient-facing environments. Scrubs in this range are available in sizes XXS through 5XL, covering tops, pants, jackets, and lab coats. Form by Cherokee Form by Cherokee scrubs are designed to be some of the most stylish and easiest-care uniforms in the brand’s catalogue. You can expect highly-stretchable, breathable fabrics, with handy pockets, elasticated waists, and contemporary fits. How to Care for Cherokee Scrubs for Long-Lasting Quality Caring for Cherokee scrubs effectively means protecting colours and fabric strength, drying and storing mindfully, and taking the right steps to immediately remove stains. Washing Tips to Protect Colour & Fabric Strength To ensure Cherokee colours and fabrics withstand years of use, always: Wash your scrubs inside out Use natural fabric softeners instead of artificial brands Aim for gentle cycles Avoid mixing with contrasting colours Follow Cherokee’s label instructions Best Drying and Storage Methods Once cleaned, always: Prioritise air drying over tumbling (unless you choose a very low heat) Stop drying before they start to wrinkle and crease Use steam irons on the lowest temperature setting Hang scrubs wherever possible in a designated spot Store with plenty of air circulation and little crowding Stain Removal Tips for Healthcare Workers Regardless of the stain, make sure to: Treat immediately with cold water (especially for bodily fluids), blotting gently Use an enzymatic cleaner or a natural solution to remove heavy staining Avoid drying or heating until the stain is removed Always follow Cherokee’s instructions Repair & Recycling Options Cherokee scrubs are highly customisable and, in my experience, are easy to repair with light stitching (though this is rarely required). Once again, always follow instructions recommended by the brand. Where to Buy Cherokee Scrubs in Australia Cherokee scrubs are widely available from the following platforms and retailers, in bulk or per-outfit: Specialised medical retailers and online stores Facility bulk suppliers Manufacturer-partnered online platform Cherokee’s online store Final Thoughts Cherokee is the leading name in high-quality, stylish scrubs that withstand heavy wear and long shifts no matter where you work. Our customers agree, confidently claiming that well-fitting Cherokee scrubs are long-term investments worth making. Cherokee scrubs can be more expensive than generic options upfront. However, with the best care, you’re investing in a uniform that will potentially weather years of shifts to come. Take a closer look at our Cherokee lines and try on the difference for yourself. How to Choose and Where to Buy the Best Scrubs - Your Buying Guide

When buying scrubs, prioritise durability, comfort, sustainability, style, and functionality. Consider your role’s specific needs, and materials such as cotton, polyester, and blends. Look for features such as moisture-wicking, wrinkle resistance, and storage. Size up carefully, remember you can customise your outfits, and choose a colour that suits your role. Buy from uniform websites, bulk suppliers, and medical supply experts. If you’re looking for where to buy scrubs but don’t want to end up purchasing poor-quality material or uniforms that are hard to clean, there are a few things you’ll need to prioritise. Whenever you buy scrubs online, I recommend looking for different styles, sizing charts, materials, colours, and even outfits for specific roles. In this guide, I’ll take you through some key factors to consider, how to choose the right material and fit, and where to shop with confidence. Key Factors to Consider When Buying Scrubs The most important things to consider when you buy scrubs online are durability and quality, comfort and fit, sustainability, style and functionality, and cost vs. longevity. Durability and Quality Look for scrubs that are made with high-quality fabrics, ideally from a recognisable, well-trusted manufacturer. Personally, I recommend Cherokee and Dickies, both of which have collections here at Medshop. The more durable and higher-quality your uniform, the better value they will be (and the more resistant to everyday wear and bodily fluids). Comfort and Fit Never choose too small a fit. Healthcare workers need comfortable, well-fitting scrubs so they can easily move around and endure long shifts. Otherwise, you’ll find it hard to focus. Sustainability Certifications If sustainability is important to you, there are plenty of options out there to consider. Sustainable scrubs reduce our reliance on harmful chemicals and carbon-emitting processes, and choosing them is a key way of giving back to our planet. Style and Functionality You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. I personally choose fitted scrubs because I feel more confident and professional when wearing them! What’s more, highly functional scrubs, such as those with accessible pockets and drawstrings, make your life much easier on the job. Cost vs. Longevity Don’t fall into the trap of buying cheaply to save upfront. Cheap scrubs are often cheaply made, and won’t endure the months or years you’ll need them for. How to Choose the Right Scrubs for Your Role Different roles demand different scrubs, which is why it’s worth narrowing down options for nurses, doctors, surgeons, dental staff, vets, and students. Nurses Nurses are on their feet all day and typically move quickly from area to area. That means you’ll need nursing scrubs that are comfortable over long periods, made from materials that endure years of use (and that are easy to clean). Doctors Doctors are just as busy as nurses. As a doctor, you’ll benefit from scrubs that are professional but breathable, with plenty of pockets and functionality to balance comfort. Surgeons Surgeons demand scrubs that are either disposable or highly sterile with clean, simple designs (to avoid bacterial capture and growth). Choose scrubs you can layer or wash thoroughly. Dental staff Dentists and hygienists come into contact with lots of fluids, and therefore need stain-resistant and antimicrobial scrubs. Choose comfort, too, for long surgery hours. Vets and allied health Vets demand extremely durable scrubs that can withstand heavy soiling and potential damage. Look for a pocket-heavy design where you can easily carry tools. Students and trainees Ideally, choose all-purpose scrubs colour-coded to your area or profession. Easy-clean, extra-comfortable uniforms are a must as you learn how to care for them. Best Materials and Features to Look for in Scrubs Some scrubs are made from different materials with beneficial properties, such as cotton and organic blends, polyester, and bamboo. Others have special features, like moisture-wicking, functional storage, wrinkle resistance, antimicrobial manufacturing, and ID loops. Material & Fabric of Scrubs When it comes to the best fabrics for scrubs, I recommend comparing cotton, polyester, bamboo, and blends - however, the material you choose will depend entirely on your comfort and usage preferences. Cotton and Organic Blends Cotton and organic blend scrubs are some of the most breathable, meaning they’re very comfortable to wear on long shifts and in high temperatures. However, they’re not always the most durable. Polyester and Stretch Fabrics Blends including polyester are some of the stretchiest and least resistant to wrinkling and wear. But, you wear these scrubs often at the loss of some comfort, meaning it’s worth looking for a cotton blend with polyester where possible. Bamboo and Eco-Friendly Materials Bamboo fibre is popular with workers looking to lower environmental impact. They’re good for wicking sweat and are very comfortable, but they can be more expensive and sometimes need chemicals during production. In fact, research suggests chemical vs. enzyme-manufactured bamboo may fit differently: “(...) there are fundamental differences between the type and function of bamboo textiles that are manufactured chemically versus those that are manufactured mechanically with the aid of enzymes.” Waite, M. Key Features of Scrubs You should ideally prioritise the following features when you buy scrubs online: Moisture-wicking: Material that’s highly breathable and comfy to wear when active Functional storage: Pockets front and back, ideally with zip closures for security Wrinkle resistance and easy-care fabric: Material that won’t crease easily from wash to dry to use Antimicrobial properties: Material designed to prevent bacterial/viral growth, ideal in healthcare settings ID loops: Great for easily storing and managing your card(s) when needed How to Choose the Right Scrub Size and Fit When looking where to buy scrubs, choose an outlet offering size charts and customisation options, and measure yourself carefully. Sizing Tips and Measurements Here are a few personal scrubs sizing tips I’ve put to use over the years: Measure everything - your waist, your chest/bust, your height, your hips, and your inside leg Size up a little, where possible, to avoid choosing too small a fit Be more liberal on sizing up if you prefer flowing comfort vs. fitted, tailored looks Consider your daily duties - be careful to choose an outfit that will move easily with you during long shifts Using Online Size Charts Online size charts are a great place to start if you’re buying scrubs for the first time. However, remember that different brands, such as Dickies and Cherokee, have different measurement standards. Be sure to compare their set sizes. Customizing Fit for Comfort Regardless of what you choose, you can style customise the fit of your scrubs after buying. For example, consider turning up trouser legs if they are too long, or to tailor in the chest or stomach of your top if you want a closer fit. Colour Options and How to Choose the Right Scrub Colour Scrub colours vary depending on hospital departments, but consider your own style, stain resistance, and what’s trending. Department colour codes vary on the hospital. For example, you may need wine-coloured tops and pants if you are a porter, and green or blue if you are on the wards. Consider darker shades to hide and resist against stains. Or, even better, choose scrubs that are stain-resistant and easy to clean. If style is important to you, consider popular colours for 2026, such as greys, teals, greens, and plums. Colour choices can also affect how patients view you, according to studies: “(...) male and female clinicians in blue scrubs were most commonly identified as the most caring (...) across all age groups.” Hribar, C.A. et al. Where to Buy Scrubs Online The best places to buy scrubs online include specialist medical uniform websites, e-commerce marketplaces, bulk suppliers, direct-to-consumer brand websites, and medical supply experts. Medical uniform websites that specialise in scrubs offer a good variety in brands and uniforms for different purposes. Major e-commerce marketplaces such as Amazon generally offer variety at low prices, but quality can vary. Bulk suppliers are typically connected to facilities and workplaces, but are usually best if you want to buy loose-fitting scrubs in multiple quantities. Direct brands guarantee quality and reliable customer care, but usually at a higher price. Medical supply experts, like Medshop, strive to give you a balance of great choice, reliable value, and long-lasting scrubs for various purposes. Final Buying Tips: Choosing the Right Scrubs for Your Needs Ultimately, the best scrubs for you may not be ideal for the next person. You need to consider your own comfort levels, your job, activity levels, body type, style and aesthetics, and available budget. Which Features Matter Most Above all, I recommend prioritising comfort, fit, quality manufacture, and functionality over all other aspects when you come to buy scrubs online. After all, you’ll need an outfit that will keep you focused on your job over long hours, and which won’t wear and tear easily. Comfort vs. Budget Balance Prioritise your daily needs over upfront costs. Buying cheap scrubs might save you money initially, but in the short run, you could end up repairing and replacing them and spending more money. A great place to start is Medshop’s fabulous range of affordable, durable, comfortable scrubs. Take a look at what our team (and buyers) recommend! Sources Discover The Best Fabric for Scrubs. Best Scrubs in Australia 2026: Top Brands, Models & Buyer’s Guide

The best scrubs in Australia right now are provided by Cherokee, Dickies, and Infinity, and all are available to buy here at Medshop. It’s important to look for high-quality scrubs for comfort, ease of movement, and professional aesthetic. The right scrubs for you may depend on your role, gender, body type, and care needs. With so many different brands clamouring to provide you with the best scrubs Australia’s nurses can buy, narrowing down your options isn’t always easy. Trust me, over the years, I’ve had to do plenty of research. However, millions of us healthcare workers can safely say that choosing the right scrubs helps to improve our comfort, professionalism, and confidence (and ensures we have long-lasting uniforms). In this guide, we’ll explore types of scrubs to look for on the Australian market, the best brands and styles for specific needs, and where you can find them. Why Choosing the Right Scrubs Matters? Choosing the right scrubs matters because at work, you’ll need to be comfortable, able to move around flexibly, and project a professional and friendly image to your team and patients. Speaking from experience, well-fitting and quality-manufactured scrubs are easy to move around in, reduce overheating, and help me focus on my day-to-day work, rather than discomfort. Plus, the best scrubs Australia has to offer also include features such as pockets, drawstrings, and areas to clip pagers and ID cards. The best scrubs also look professional and well-cared for. This helps to build confidence in your patients and can also help them identify you as someone who can help. Studies show almost eight in ten wearers feel more confident with scrubs: “Regarding job-related confidence”, 79.6% reported that wearing scrubs contributed to a greater sense of personal and professional assurance during patient interactions.” Khorasani, P., et al. And then, there’s hygiene. Well-designed and manufactured scrubs that fit properly are carefully layered to control body temperature, are easy to clean, and protect you from bodily fluids and other hazards. Types and Styles of Scrubs It’s important to choose the right type and style of scrubs depending on your practical needs, personal comfort, and aesthetics. Choose between two-piece scrubs, slim-fit options, scrubs designed for specific professions, or those tailored to genders (or as unisex). Classic Two-Piece Scrubs Classic two-piece scrubs are popular with nurses across Australia because they’re universally accepted and seen as the professional standard. Typically, they’re a v-neck top with trousers, elasticated or otherwise. These scrubs are tailored to offer ease of movement and tend to be quite loose, favouring maximum movement. Therefore, they are not the most fashionable - but, they’re easy to clean and last a long time when cared for properly. Slim-Fit and Tailored Options Sometimes called fitted scrubs, these are designed to shape around your silhouette, meaning they’re more flattering than the two-piece. Some nurses prefer looser options so they can layer for extra warmth, however. Personally, I’ve always chosen contoured seams and darting for a more stylish, less catch-all look. You can always opt for stretch fabrics if you’re worried about flexibility. Profession-Specific Scrubs (Surgical, Dental, Veterinary, etc.) Depending on your role, you may choose scrubs made from antimicrobial materials, or even those with bright colours if you’re working with children (who, studies show, prefer colourful uniforms): “Children and nurses seem to be in perfect accord, because in both groups, color models (of uniforms) were the most chosen.” Sanna, P. et al. While it’s safe to choose the classic two-piece to avoid doubt, consider stain resistance when working in dentistry, reinforced durability if working with animals, and even disposable outfits if you’re often in surgery. Unisex vs. Gender-Specific Styles Again, unisex scrubs are perfectly safe and acceptable. However, men may prefer broader chests, and women may choose outfits that accentuate or accommodate curves better. Ultimately, this is a choice that can affect confidence and how you move around at work, so don’t always blindly choose unisex. Specific-Sized Scrubs (Tall, Petite, Plus Size, etc.) Many professional scrub brands offer specific lines for larger or smaller body types, or for those who are taller or shorter than the ‘generic’ gendered scrub lines might not accommodate. I advise measuring yourself carefully before assuming any one type or line of scrub will fit you and be comfortable from day to day. For many, buying online from professional retailers such as Medshop is the fastest, most affordable, and most reliable way to find scrubs that will endure years of use. However, you can also find popular brands and lines at physical stores, meaning it’s worth comparing options. Otherwise, you can order scrubs directly via your works facility, or from a manufacturer recommended by your employer or team. Regardless, it’s good to have a range of choices (and we always aim to give you as many choices as possible on one platform). Scrub Shopping Savings Tips To save money when shopping for nursing scrubs, lean towards seasonal sales and clearances, compare different retailers, and consider buying in bulk. Clearance cycles and end-of-season sales, for example, at physical stores, offer affordable, great-quality scrubs and uniforms that would otherwise carry a full price tag. Do also be prepared to compare. Just because one store offers a reasonable price for a reliable set of scrubs doesn’t mean it’s the best deal. Find a look and fit that works for you, and see how much they cost online and offline. If you’re not too concerned about fitted scrubs, you can often purchase looser, unisex scrubs in bulk for less per unit than you would one at a time. It’s a good choice if you know you will need several uniforms across the year. Final Tips: Choosing Scrubs That Combine Comfort, Style, and Value Finding the best scrubs Australia has to offer you will take time and effort, but always think carefully about style and longevity before upfront cost. I can safely say that investing in a well-made set of scrubs saved me more money and stress over years of working in healthcare compared to just buying a cheap set outright. Cheaply-made scrubs will quickly wear out and barely suit their purpose. Here at Medshop, we want to help you find the best scrubs for your specific body type, comfort needs, and professional expectations. Start by looking at our top picks from this guide, and let us know if you need any help comparing and narrowing down your choices. Sources Cherokee. (n.d.-a). Cherokee scrubs and uniforms. Caring for Skin Health When Using Continence Aids

Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis (IAD) occurs when prolonged contact with urine or feces irritates the skin, leading to redness, pain, and sometimes blistering. It often affects the perineal area, buttocks, thighs, and skin folds, and can worsen with improper use of continence aids. Gentle cleansing, proper fit, barrier creams, and breathable products—along with healthy habits and regular skin checks—can help prevent and manage IAD. Incontinence is a condition that’s challenging both physically and emotionally. Having helped to care for many people suffering from the condition, I’ve learned that people are often embarrassed or scared to ask for help, even when areas like their skin health are affected. So, over the years, I’ve taken the time to look into skin care products and routines that can help give people suffering with incontinence some much-needed relief and everyday confidence. Following a healthy skin care routine while using incontinence products can help prevent rashes, irritation, and even infections. In this guide, I’ll take you through how to prepare your skin, the products I recommend, how to clean and dry your skin properly, and how to adjust your lifestyle comfortably. Understanding Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis (IAD) and Its Symptoms IAD, or Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis, is a condition caused when faecal matter and/or urine come into close contact with your skin for long periods. It usually manifests as patches of sore, red, and itchy skin. According to the National Healthcare Group, IAD worsens because bodily fluids, solids, and faecal proteins permeate your skin, causing swelling and reducing its acidity. You may suffer from IAD if your skin is: Unusually warm Painful or itchy Covered in blisters Leaking discharge Open, cracking, or wounded Swollen and red Wrinkled and wet Acting fast against IAD helps to protect against painful infections, increasing discomfort, insomnia, and even immobility. Many people I’ve supported over the years, understandably, started taking care of their incontinence by self-medicating with over-the-counter aids and containment products. However, improper use of aids like containment pads may exacerbate skin problems: “Containment pads have different absorbency levels dependent on the volume of urine. Inappropriate use of too high or too low an absorbency can contribute to an increased risk of skin damage. Too low an absorption will lead to increased volume of effluent on the skin(...)” Sharon Holroyd, Urology & Continence Care Today Therefore, it’s important to learn how to use incontinence aids effectively while ensuring your skin is protected. I’ll take you through some useful tips a little further down. Vulnerable Skin Areas Prone to IAD Skin in your perineal and genital areas, across your buttocks and inner thighs, and in folds across your body, are most at risk from continence aid damage. This is largely because they’re the most sensitive to moisture buildup and friction while moving. Perineal and Genital Area Your perineal and genital areas are at particular risk from IAD because it’s here where moistness is most likely to build. Improper cleaning and drying when using incontinence aids can make redness, soreness, and skin cracking worse. Buttocks and Inner Thighs Your buttocks and inner thighs, too, are prone to developing skin problems when incontinent, in part because they are close to where you urinate and defecate. When wearing pads, for example, stools and urine may rub around close to your skin for long periods. Skin Folds Skin folds are at high risk from moisture because water and fluid can get caught, and therefore persist on your body. Given that folds rub, too, moisture can help to worsen redness, itchiness, and general discomfort. Treatment and Management of Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis (IAD) Managing Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis (IAD) effectively often requires a combination of clinical treatment and good hygiene practices. In moderate to severe cases, healthcare professionals may recommend topical antifungal or oral antibiotic medication to treat infections or prevent secondary infection from developing in open or irritated skin. Maintaining a healing environment is crucial—this means keeping the skin clean, dry, and protected while allowing it to breathe. For individuals requiring ongoing support, products such as absorbent incontinence pads, faecal management systems, or anal bags can help contain waste safely and reduce direct skin contact. In more complex situations, medical professionals may advise the use of indwelling urinary catheters, indwelling rectal catheters, or intermittent urinary catheters to better control fluid output and minimize irritation. Additionally, adopting consistent toileting routines and using skin protection products, such as barrier films or creams, are essential parts of an ongoing care plan. These strategies not only promote comfort and skin integrity but also reduce the risk of recurring infections and discomfort. Cleansing and Hygiene Routine for Skin Protection To keep your skin clean, hygienic, and protected when suffering from incontinence, it’s important to carefully remove any aids you wear, to cleanse your skin with mild treatments and products, to pat dry, and apply barrier creams and ointments. Here’s a routine I recommend you follow: Step 1: Gently Remove the Aid Always remove any aids or pads carefully when they have reached the end of their life. For example, some continence aids should be changed once a day or more. To avoid irritating or scratching your skin and potentially letting fluids in, gently remove your aid and dispose of it hygienically. Step 2: Cleanse with Mild Products Your sensitive skin will thank you for using as mild cleaning products as possible. Consider a very gentle soap or dilute solution and carefully clean your skin, rinsing well, but don’t submit it to aggressive blasts of water. Make sure any products you use are fully rinsed away, no matter how mild. Step 3: Pat Dry Roughly drying skin can, again, lead to irritation and potential skin breakages. Make sure to pat your skin dry with a clean towel or paper towels before applying creams. Step 4: Apply Barrier Products and Creams As soon as your skin is clean and dry, apply a light amount of barrier cream or ointment and carefully massage in. Medshop’s range of moisturisers and barrier creams helps to protect and heal your skin without causing extra moisture (and therefore preventing IAD complaints. Skin Protection Strategies and Product Recommendations My personal recommendations for minimising IAD include using breathable and super-absorbent continence aids, investing in barrier creams and alcohol-free ointments, and ensuring any aids you wear fit properly. Breathable and absorbent continence aids help to prevent moisture build-up and therefore ward off threats of IAD. I personally recommend investing in Abena products, which are professionally manufactured to support incontinence sufferers of all shapes and sizes. For example, you may wish to invest in the hip-hugging, comfortable Fix Pant Super 6XI range. Barrier creams and products such as 3M Cavilon help to keep your skin protected against a variety of damage caused by moisture, and again, it’s widely recommended by our shoppers. However, regardless of the products you use and wear, you must try and use them as directed by the brand. For instance, always follow sizing and fitting instructions provided online and in the packaging provided with continence pads. It’s also important to reach out to your local health professionals for confidential advice. Doctors and nurses specialising in incontinence care know that it is a condition that is hard to talk about. However, the best specialists will always be able to make skincare recommendations. Tips and Best Practices for Preventing Skin Issues I personally suggest taking further steps to adjust your lifestyle to protect your body against irritation and infection. For example, consider changing your aids frequently, ensuring you drink water and eat healthily, and always monitoring your skin for signs of IAD. Changing your aids frequently is vital for fighting off IAD. Leaving used pads against your skin for long periods will lead to more bacteria and enzymes soaking into your skin, and will keep you moist for longer. Always change your aids as soon as the manufacturer recommends. A healthy diet is important for skin health, too. Staying hydrated with fresh water is the best long-term hack for strong, healthy skin. Mayo Clinic, too, recommends a diet rich in lean protein and to avoid processed foods and refined carbohydrates. Their experts also recommend avoiding too much sun, and to start smoking cessation if relevant. Above all, you must be vigilant for signs of IAD. Don’t wait for soreness, blisters, and warm skin to worsen before treating them. At the first sign of skin issues, make changes to your routine and take my tips above into account. Final Thoughts Continence Health Australia states that one in four adults across the country may be suffering from incontinence. And, for many, it’s a condition they feel they must suffer in silence with. However, self-medicating incontinence and failing to ask for help or diagnosis could lead to serious skin problems and infections in the long term. I’ve supported hundreds of people over the years with incontinence-related problems, and I know that it is a condition that requires considerable lifestyle adjustments. I also suggest reading our guide on how to stop incontinence if you are just starting to notice symptoms. In the meantime, make sure to invest in continence aids and barrier creams recommended by our team at Medshop, and by hundreds of people also suffering from incontinence and associated skin problems.
