How do I measure my tubing length?
Tubing length is measured from the top of the eartips to the bottom of the chestpiece.
 My stethoscope does not work!
It is very rare for a stethoscope to simply not work.
Common reasons why such a comment might be made.
- If the stethoscope has a dual head only one side of the stethoscope will functions at a time. For example to change the active side from the diaphragm to the bell you would rotate the stethoscope tubing against the stethoscopes head until it clicks back into position every 180 degrees. ( Classic stethoscopes are dual head and have this type pf mechanism)
- Unfortunately it is instinctive for the untrained individual to put a stethoscope headset on the wrong way round. When placing the eartips into the ear they should face slightly forwards. Your ear canals are generally angled anteriorly, therefore for the sound to travel down your ear canal the headset needs to be worn correctly, the wrong way round and any stethoscope will turn into an expensive set of ear plugs!
